Namaste | January Newsletter – Chai Ghai

Namaste

“Peace begins with a kind gesture and Namaste.”

– Debasish Mridha

May the warmth found in each sip of our chai be the warmth you need and receive in 2022. That warmth goes beyond its temperature and can be felt through the way we give back to our community and the rest of the world. With Covid striking hard over the past few years, there has been no shortage of causes to support. The toll this pandemic has had on the mental health of the citizens of Earth is unprecedented. Therefore, we continue our mission into 2022 of changing the world with each sip. We had an impactful 2021, giving back to local causes such as The Foundry, The Downtown Eastside Women’s Shelter, BC flood victims and local firefighters. We were also able to work on a global scale with Sawa World, helping the impoverished in third world countries find purpose and meaning. Seva, the selfless act of giving, has been one of our focuses since our inception. Another key focus has been bringing our ancient recipes that have been handed down from generation to generation to the western world. In doing this we have been able to bring to light the medical and spiritual properties and health benefits that chai possesses. Thank you for joining us on this journey and may the light in your souls glow bright in 2022; Namaste. Here is what we have been up to so far.

Delta Hospital Seva

The past few years have been especially tough on the front-line workers at our local hospitals. They have faced this pandemic head on with courage and bravery. Their tireless efforts to keep our communities safe have been greatly appreciated by the Chai Ghai team. For this reason, we donated 600 tea bags to the front-line workers at Delta Hospital, in South Delta, BC.  Without question these incredible souls must be feeling burnt out and it is our hope that our chais and teas can bring them some energy and love at this time. Chai Ghai would like to say Namaste to Delta Hospital and recognize the fundamental light and service they offer to our community.

Delta Hospital - Fraser Health Authority

We would also like to bring attention to the Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation, an organization that has raised over $58 million since 1988. They are always accepting donations to fulfill their wish list of necessary equipment used to keep those within our community safe. It is our goal to continue to donate to the Delta Hospital, as they are a beacon of hope in this troubling time in humanity.

Daily Hive Contest

During Christmas 2021, we partnered with the Daily Hive to do a festive holiday contest.  This raffle furthered our goal of changing the world with every sip, as it brought awareness to our causes. With the contest ending on December 15th, the Daily Hive randomly selected the winners and we have sent out their prizes accordingly. Jane Roxburgh of Edmonton, Alberta was the grand prize winner with her prizes including a new iPad Mini and a Chai Ghai gift set. The set consists of 5x100 gram signature tins of chai, 1 tea diffuser, 1 tea pot and 2 Chai Ghai teacups. The 2nd place winner was Karla Carey of Kingston, Ontario, who received a Chai Ghai gift set as well. We would like to congratulate both winners and say thank you and Namaste to all those who participated in this contest. We will be having many more contests in 2022.

“A gift is pure when it is given from the heart… when we expect nothing in return.”

– Bhagavad Gita

As this winter season still offers some colder days, warm up with a cup of Chai Ghai. If you are in the Lower Mainland, head to Nat’s Coffee House for a hot cup of our authentic chai or tea. The days will begin to be longer, as Lohri marked the winter solstice and the shortest day of the year. Now as the light comes back into your lives, we look to continue to change the world with every sip. It’s our pleasure to continue to serve our communities and customers with love and honesty. Thank you
